So, you're thinking about booking a therapy session?

Scheduling your first therapy session can come with a whole flood of different emotions. It's likely that you didn't just stumble upon a page and decide impulsively to book. You've likely been considering the option of therapy for a while. Maybe you're feeling nervous to open up to someone about your concerns; concerns that you may have not discussed with anyone else in your personal life before. Perhaps you are feeling a sense of relief, knowing that you have someone in your corner to help guide you through the struggles of your day to day life. Some people even experience a sense of excitement to embark on a journey to learn about themselves in a way that they haven't in the past. Or maybe you're feeling a mix of ALL these emotions and more. The good news is... that is completely normal!




Isn't Therapy Scary?


Therapy has often been portrayed as a scary experience; one where you lie on a couch and divulge your deep dark secrets to a stranger who is going to tell you what you should do. No wonder many people are apprehensive! Did you know that therapy can actually look a lot different? Here are some other things that can occur during a counselling session:

While therapy can consist of working through significant mental health concerns, therapy can also be about working towards being the best version of yourself. There are so many reasons that accessing a therapist can be beneficial. We can all benefit from a safe space to receive validation, encouragement and a shift in our perspective. How you show up for yourself will predict your outcomes. Even therapists have therapist! Behind every therapist, is another good therapist.
