A Space for Grief This Holiday Season

You don't have to leave your grief behind to make room for the holidays.

The holidays can be a difficult time when someone you love is no longer here. Traditions that once brought comfort may now bring reminders of their absence. An empty chair, a familiar song, or a moment you wish you could share with them can make their absence feel especially heavy.

Maybe you're dreading the holidays this year, wondering how you'll navigate family gatherings, traditions, or the expectation to feel joyful when your heart is hurting. Maybe it's been years since your loss, but this season still brings a familiar ache. Or perhaps you're finding it difficult to explain your grief to others who seem to have moved on while you're still learning how to live with the loss.

You may feel pressure to be strong for everyone else, keep the traditions going, or put on a brave face when all you really need is space to acknowledge how much you miss them.

A Space for Grief This Holiday Season was created to offer that space. This gentle, therapist-led gathering invites you to pause, connect with others who understand, and make room for whatever you may be carrying into the holidays.

Together, we'll explore the ways grief can show up during this season, share compassionate strategies for navigating difficult moments, and create a small remembrance keepsake to honour someone you love. There is no expectation to feel better, find closure, or have the right words. You are welcome to arrive exactly as you are.

What to Expect:

  • A warm, supportive space to acknowledge your grief without judgement or pressure

  • Gentle psychoeducation about grief, including why holidays and traditions can make loss feel more present

  • Guided conversation and reflection with others who understand the complexities of grieving

  • Practical strategies for navigating holiday gatherings, expectations, traditions, and difficult emotions

  • A simple remembrance activity to create in honour of your loved one

  • A quiet candle-lighting presence throughout the session as a symbol of remembrance and connection

  • Compassionate facilitation by a Registered Psychotherapist, Certified Grief Counsellor with lived experience in complicated grief.

You don't need to have everything figured out before you join us. Sharing is always optional, and there is no right or wrong way to participate.
