Walking Through Motherhood
Therapy in Motion for Moms & Babies
Sometimes the best conversations don't happen across a desk—they happen one step at a time.
Walking Through Motherhood is a unique Walk & Talk Therapy experience designed for mothers with babies and young children in strollers. Instead of meeting solely in the therapy office, we'll head outdoors for a gentle walk while creating space for meaningful conversation, emotional healing, and nervous system regulation.
Whether you're navigating the transition into motherhood, carrying the invisible mental load, feeling overwhelmed, or simply craving time to reconnect with yourself, these sessions offer a refreshing alternative to traditional therapy.
Is This Your Season?
This experience may be a great fit if you are:
-
Adjusting to life with a new baby
-
Feeling overwhelmed by the mental load of motherhood
-
Living with anxiety, stress, or burnout
-
Processing birth trauma, pregnancy loss, or postpartum challenges
-
Feeling disconnected from yourself or your identity
-
Looking for therapy that feels more relaxed and natural
-
Hoping to prioritize your mental health without arranging childcare
Because you deserve wellness
Why Therapy in Motion?
Walking side by side creates a different therapeutic experience than sitting across from one another.
As your body moves, your nervous system begins to settle. The gentle rhythm of walking, combined with the calming effects of nature, can make it easier to process emotions, regulate stress, and gain clarity. Many clients find they feel more relaxed, more present, and more comfortable opening up while walking outdoors.
Benefits include:
-
Reduced stress and anxiety
-
Gentle nervous system regulation through movement
-
Increased emotional processing and reflection
-
Improved mood and mental clarity
-
The restorative effects of spending time in nature
-
A relaxed, pressure-free environment for meaningful conversation

What To Expect
Sessions are held at a slow, comfortable walking pace that can easily accommodate strollers and varying fitness levels. Our focus is always on the conversation—not the distance.
We can begin your session from the Journey of Hope office or meet at one of several designated walking locations throughout Durham Region, depending on your preference and the season.
You'll receive the same personalized, evidence-based therapy you would in the office—just with the added benefits of fresh air, movement, and nature.
Babies in strollers are always welcome.
Take the first step toward feeling more grounded, supported, and connected—one walk at a time.
